Literature
Armand-Marie Guérin was born in Paris into a family of successful artists; both his father, Victor Manago, and his elder brother, Dominique Manago, were practising artists.
He studied at the École Nationale des Beaux Arts in Paris under the academic painter Jean-Pierre Laurens, later developing his own spontaneous ‘naive’ style to depict lively and inventive scenes of his native city. His approach to painting was very different to that of his father or brother, and in order to distinguish himself and his art, Armand-Marie adopted the surname of ‘Guérin’.
Armand-Marie Guérin died in Paris in 1983.
