Alan King (1946-2014)

Alan King studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1964 to 1968.  After a career in teaching he decided to start painting full time in 1999. His love of the Italian Renaissance and Commedia dell’Arte was a continual inspiration for his paintings.

Another source of inspiration was the literature and poetry of Italy and his native Scotland, to provide visual images which he interpreted in a bold palette, showing the influence of artists such as Benozzo Gozzoli ( 1420 – 14 97), and Paolo Ucchello ( 14 35 – 1460 ).

Alan King died in 2014.
